Executive Chef

At Que Chevere the Executive Chef will play an important role in creating and executing Puerto Rican flavors and recipes.  He / She will be responsible to create and modify menus, lead the rest of the BOH staff, and always be forward-thinking. The Executive Chef works actively with the Que Chevere team to set new goals for improving day-to-day operations through food, experience, and culture. He / She will support all Que Chevere day-to-day operations and will participate in the hiring and training of personnel at the restaurant. Additionally, he/she is responsible for ensuring that the restaurant standards and goals are met. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development and modifications
  • Quality Control for all cooking and storing of food
  • Managing all ordering for Que Chevere, both in the restaurant and for catering
  • Oversee training of new BOH staff; including prep, dish, and cooking positions
  • Responsible for events management, communication, and execution. Participates in events when necessary.
  • Oversee all aspects of service to improve customer experiences
  • Create and implement Food Safety Plans
  • Implements training schedules for new hires and monitors progress
  • Actively coach, inspire, and develop staff
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment for all staff and guests


  • 5 years experience as either a sous chef of executive chef in a fast paced restaurant
  • Experience with hiring, ordering, inventory control
  • Experience managing a staff, creating schedules and implementing code of conduct and BOH systems
  • NYC Food Handlers Permit


At Que Chevere Porters will play an important role in the kitchen and overall operation of our restaurant. The Porter will be responsible to keep the kitchen area clean and tidy, and also assist with dishwashing and some light prep.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all dishes, pots, and pans are clean and put away for further use
  • Emptying the garbage from all the food preparation areas and bringing it to the communal trash area
  • Cleaning the all areas of the floor and mats at the end of the final shift 
  • Wiping down all surfaces and all kitchen equipment 
  • Light food prep may be required

Line Cook

At Que Chevere Line Cooks will need to work both the grill and garde manger, as well as assist with prep. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes
  • Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
  • Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas, and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards
  • Work with team of cooks to do prep work for other shifts, when needed
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
